About The Role
Australian Energy Producers is seeking an experienced events professional to shape and deliver its national events portfolio, including the annual Australian Energy Producers Conference and Exhibition — Australia’s premier oil and gas industry event.
Reporting to the General Manager Member Relations and Events, the Director Events will plan, manage and deliver a high-profile national events program that strengthens member engagement, supports advocacy priorities and enhances Australian Energy Producers’ industry profile.
The flagship conference attracts more than 2,500 delegates, 150 national and international speakers, 120 exhibitors, 30 corporate sponsors and partners, and significant national media attention.
This is a senior, hands-on role suited to an experienced events professional who combines strategic oversight, commercial discipline, stakeholder confidence and strong operational delivery.
Key responsibilities include, but are not limited to:
- Lead planning, commercial management and operational delivery of the annual Australian Energy Producers Conference and Exhibition.
- Oversee the broader events program, including member networking functions, Board-related events, seminars and strategic engagement activities.
- Coordinate contributors, contractors and suppliers to support high-quality delivery and continuous improvement across the events portfolio.
- Work closely with Executive, Policy and External Affairs teams to ensure events reflect organisational priorities and advocacy objectives.
- Manage event budgets, revenue targets, sponsorship and exhibition outcomes, supplier costs and commercial reporting.
- Oversee speaker management, sponsor and exhibitor relationships, venue and supplier contracts, event communications, risk, compliance and WHS requirements.
About You
You will be an accomplished events professional with a strong track record delivering complex, commercially significant events and building trusted relationships with senior stakeholders, sponsors, exhibitors, venues and suppliers.
You have:
- A strong track record in event management, including leading complex event portfolios and delivering high-profile events.
- Significant experience delivering high-profile association, corporate, business or industry events with senior stakeholder visibility.
- Demonstrated experience delivering large-scale conferences and exhibitions, including events with more than 1,000 delegates.
- Strong commercial and financial management capability, including budget development, revenue management and reporting.
- Experience coordinating contractors, suppliers and internal stakeholders to support successful event delivery, underpinned by strong project management and organisational skills.
- Excellent stakeholder engagement, negotiation, relationship management and written communication skills.
- Strong working knowledge of EventsAir event management platform
- Willingness to travel interstate as required.
Desirable:
- Tertiary qualifications in events management, communications, project management or a related discipline.
- Experience working within a membership-based, industry association or advocacy organisation.
- Working knowledge of HubSpot CRM
- Experience in the Australian energy or resources sector.

- Ability to lead through influence, bringing contributors, contractors, suppliers and internal stakeholders together.
