The Regional Planning Interests Bill 2013 passed by the Queensland Parliament last night is the result of constructive engagement between the gas industry, agricultural sector representatives and the State Government.
While APPEA is continuing to work through the detail of the Bill and Regulation, the framework is an example of what can be achieved when government shows strong leadership and there is a mature discussion between the gas and agricultural sectors on how each industry can coexist and succeed.
The agriculture and gas industries both make significant contributions to the state’s economy and can and do complement one another.
As the final details of the Regional Planning Bill are put in place APPEA looks forward to continuing to work with government and the agricultural sector to realise a coexistence framework that supports ongoing growth and vitality in Queensland’s regional economies. Download PDF
