Senior Policy Advisor – States and Northern Territory (Brisbane)
About The Role
As Australian Energy Producers’ Senior Policy Advisor – States and the NT, you will work with the GM States & Territories, in close collaboration with State Directors and state and federal policy teams. You will provide support to develop and implement the oil and gas industry’s advocacy and policy agenda in the respective regions.
Key responsibilities include:
- Provide expert advice on a range of policy initiatives and advocacy around Australia.
- Researching and analysing public policy issues, with a particular focus on legislation, government policy, and energy.
- Engage with Members to prepare high quality written materials including public submissions, executive correspondence, briefing materials and presentations
- Work with the GM, State Directors and state and federal policy teams to develop and implement Australian Energy Producers’ policy agenda.
- Provide secretariat support for Australian Energy Producers member-only committees and working groups as required for the respective States and Territories.
- Represent Australian Energy Producers at external meetings where required, conferences and seminars in order to build awareness and understanding of Australian Energy Producers’ policy positions.
About You
To succeed in this role, you will have:
- Tertiary qualifications in communications, business, public policy or political science, economics, or other relevant discipline.
- Understanding of Australian policy making processes and / or experience in policy development (energy sector an advantage).
- Ability to analyse policy issues and recommend advocacy positions and strategies relevant to Australian Energy Producers and its members.
- Experience managing stakeholder groups.
- Previous experience in an industry association will be well regarded.
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills, including the ability to prepare policy documents and briefings.
- Superior interpersonal skills, including liaison and negotiation skills.
- High-level organisational skills and the ability to prioritise and meet deadlines.
