Delivered by industry experts, these seminars are designed for both new and experienced energy professionals, government policy makers and contractors wanting to attain a sound understanding of the sector and the many opportunities and challenges it faces.

The seminars are delivered in two formats:
1. 1 x full day seminar, delivered face-to-face
2. 2 x half day seminars, delivered online
As a participant, you can choose to join an open seminar (see dates below) or arrange a private seminar to be delivered for your team only (minimum numbers apply).

Meet our Trainers
Adjunct Professor Peter Moore, Curtin University
Peter is a senior energy executive and has over 40 years of experience in the resources industry and academia. Most of his career has been spent in senior and executive management roles within the oil and gas industry, mainly at Esso Australia, Exxon Exploration Company in Houston, and Woodside Energy.
At Woodside, Peter held many roles, including as Chief Geologist, leading the company’s geoscience technology function, and heading up exploration in Australia and in the Gulf of Mexico. He ended his executive career as the Executive Vice President responsible for Woodside’s global exploration efforts. In this capacity he managed an annual budget of roughly half a billion dollars and was a member of Woodside’s Executive Committee.
Peter retired from Woodside in 2013, and joined Curtin University, initially as Chair of the Graduate School’s Advisory Board, and then as a Professor within the Faculty of Business and Law. As the Executive Director of Strategic Engagement at Curtin, he was involved in the university’s industry engagement strategy and research direction.
Dr Moore is a seasoned company director, and has served on the boards of Central Petroleum, Carnarvon Energy and most recently, Beach Energy. He is also a former Chair of Earth Sciences WA, and Curtin’s Faculty of Science and Engineering Council.
Currently, Peter is an Adjunct Professor at Curtin University. He has his own consulting company which provides executive education throughout Australia and overseas, focused on resources and energy.
Peter has a BSc with 1st class honours from the University of Wollongong, a PhD from the University of Adelaide, and an Executive MBA from Melbourne University. He is also a Graduate of the Australian Institute of Company Directors.
In 2023, he was recognized as a National Geoscience Champion by the Aust. Geoscience Council.
Associate Professor Steve Mackie, BSc, MBA and PHD
Dr Steve Mackie has over 48 years’ experience in the upstream energy industry. He has worked for multinationals and local explorers in both senior technical and executive roles.
He holds a BSc (Macquarie), MBA and PhD (Adelaide).
He is an adjunct Associate Professor at Adelaide University and recently finished 16 years as the chairman of the Australian Energy Producers Technical Program Committee and editor of the Australian Energy Producers Journal. He recently stood down after 11 years as Chairman and President of PESA – Energy Geoscience. He has also been a Distinguished Lecturer for Society of Petroleum Engineers.
He is an honorary life member of Australian Energy Producers; a distinguished life member of PESA – Energy Geoscience, a member of the European Association of Geoscientists and Engineers (EAGE), the American Association of Petroleum Geologists (AAPG), and the Society of Petroleum Engineers (SPE).
