Statement on new Northern Territory Chief Minister

STATEMENT FROM APPEA NT DIRECTOR CASSANDRA SCHMIDT:

 The oil and gas industry congratulates Natasha Fyles on her appointment today as Northern Territory Chief Minister.

We look forward to continuing to work in collaboration with the new government to keep delivering for the NT.

This will include working to progress the huge opportunities of the Beetaloo Basin, which is estimated to create up to 6,000 jobs for the region over the next two decades.

We also look forward to working with the government in progressing our commitment to net zero by 2050, continuing to operate our key LNG exports whilst working towards decarbonising the industry and incorporating carbon capture and storage (CCS) opportunities in the region to achieve a cleaner energy future.
