Cummins South Pacific enables oil and gas to power on in Australia
Cummins South Pacific is a wholly-owned subsidiary of Cummins Inc., a global technology leader that designs, manufactures, distributes and services a broad portfolio of power solutions.
Founded more than 100 years ago, the company’s products range from diesel and natural gas engines to hybrid and electric platforms, as well as related technologies, including transmissions, battery systems, fuel systems, controls, air handling, filtration, emission solutions, and power generation systems.
All products are backed by Cummins’ unmatched service support network, which in Australia includes 30 branches, 150+ authorised dealers and 24/7 Cummins Support Centre – 1300Cummins.
Cummins South Pacific Business Manager for Oil & Gas/Mining Miles Paul said Cummins has supplied power solutions to a great number of projects across the South Pacific, including several onshore developments in Australia.
“In recent times, Blackham Resources chose Cummins as the preferred generator manufacturer to deliver extra power and the HSK78G, rated at 2 MWe, was selected and commissioned at the remote Matilda-Wiluna gold operations in Western Australia in January 2018,” Mr Paul said.
“The Perth-based Contract Power Group needed a secure and reliable prime power supply to keep production up and running on a 24/7 basis.
“The new HSK78 offers a total package of gas generator capabilities and innovative gas technology for prime and peaking power applications. The HSK78G generator series has been designed from the skid up, providing reliable power no matter how extreme the fuel source or operating conditions.”
The large Atlas Gas Project, developed by Senex Energy in partnership with Jemena, located near Wandoan, QLD is another project Cummins is supplying power solutions for. This ground-breaking project is supplying domestic natural gas to generate electricity and make products in Queensland.
Packaged and designed by Synchrotech Controls, the four Type B compliant gensets was recently commissioned by their technicians, each utilising a Cummins KTA19GC industrial gas engine, producing 1.3 MW generator power all up and operating 24/7.
This project is also supported by one Cummins QSX15 diesel black start unit. As the project was a critical power supply operation, there was no room for error.
“Customers and end-users expect reliability and durability combined with low total cost of ownership; a challenge that’s common across all industry and one which Cummins is continuously proving its ability to meet,” Mr Paul said.
